Plans and credits
Writing, pages, boards, questions, presenting and handing off are free on every plan. Credits pay for what an AI model does: chat, new ideas, the second reader and UI sketches.
The plans
- Free
- $0, with no card and no time limit. 20 credits once your email address is confirmed, then 5 on each day you use Walden, up to 30 a month. 1 GB for files.
- Personal
- $20 a month or $200 a year, for your own idea book. 400 credits a month, top-ups, and your own model key if you have one. 10 GB for files.
- Team
- $30 a month or $300 a year for each owner and editor; viewers are free. A shared workspace, 400 credits a month for each paid seat, shared by the whole team, top-ups and your own model key. 10 GB for files for each paid seat.
Handing an idea off as a file is on every plan, with no limit. See Handing off.
Handing an idea to a coding agent is on every plan too. On Free, one idea at a time: another can go once the one before is built, reopened or deleted. See Coding agents.
What uses credits
Only calls to a model:
- A chat message, and an idea drafted from Home. See Chat.
- A pass by each second reader you ask. See The second reader.
- Each place of a UI sketch drawn, another version of a place, and a change to a sketch asked in chat. See Sketching the screens.
Nothing else does, including Walden reading how far an idea has got. Before you ask, Walden says roughly what it costs: in the list of models, under the chat box, and under a flow before you sketch it. A call is charged what it actually cost, so a long page costs a little more than usual, and a stronger model uses more.
Coding agents don’t use your credits.
Your credits
Settings → Plan and credits shows the workspace’s plan, the credits left, and when more come.
- On Free, it says how many more come tomorrow, or, once the month’s daily credits have all come, that more come when the month turns. Daily credits come only in your own idea book.
- On Personal and Team, the plan’s credits come each month, and the page says on which day you’re back to full. Unused plan credits carry over, up to one month’s worth.
- Credits from the plan are spent before credits you bought.
The last 30 days lists what the workspace has used. What each thing costs, by model, at the foot of the page, gives the usual price of each thing on each model. With your own model key, Walden counts no credits at all. See AI models and your own key.
When credits run out
A call that would cost more than what’s left isn’t made, and nothing is charged. The message says what it would cost and what’s left, with one thing to do: Upgrade on Free, Top up on Personal and Team. Picking a model that costs less also helps. On Free, AI waits for the next day’s credits. There’s never a charge you didn’t choose.
Top-ups
On Personal and Team, an owner can choose Top up 150 credits · $10 on Plan and credits. Bought credits last a year from your latest top-up.
Upgrading, or starting a team
- Your own idea book. On Plan and credits, choose Upgrade to Personal, pick Monthly or Yearly, and pay by Stripe. Your plan and its credits start as soon as the payment confirms.
- A team. Go to Settings → General in your own idea book and choose Start a team. Name it and choose Continue to payment; the team is made as soon as the payment goes through. See Workspaces and roles.
Your own idea book and a team are billed separately: starting a team doesn’t change your idea book’s plan. On Team, owners and editors are the paid seats and viewers are free, so the seats change as people join, leave or change roles.
Cancelling
On a paid plan, Manage subscription and invoices opens Stripe, where you can see invoices or cancel. A cancelled plan runs to the end of the period you’ve paid for. When Personal ends, your idea book goes back to Free: the plan’s credits end with it, credits you bought are kept but can’t be spent until you subscribe again, and your own model key is removed.
A team whose plan has ended
Everyone in it can still read its ideas and download them, but nobody can change anything, and the sidebar says so. An owner can choose Resubscribe there. Resubscribing pays for every owner and editor still in the team, so an owner may want to make people viewers, or remove them, in Settings → People first. Credits bought there wait for the plan to come back.
Its coding-agent keys open nothing until it resubscribes.
