Writing an idea
Organizing your ideas
Pin an idea or a project to keep it close at hand. Shelve an idea you’re not pursuing now. Delete what you no longer want, and bring it back within thirty days if you change your mind.
Pin an idea or a project
Pinned ideas sit in their own Pinned section of the sidebar, above Recents, so they’re always a click away. The sidebar’s Projects section lists only the projects you pinned.
- An idea. Open its More actions menu (…) in the toolbar and choose Pin to the sidebar, or point at it in Recents and press the pin beside it. Unpin is in the same menu.
- A project. On Projects, press the pin at the end of its row. Or on the project’s page, open Project actions (…) and choose Pin to the sidebar; Unpin from the sidebar is there too.
Pins are yours alone. Pinning changes nothing for anyone else in the workspace.
Shelve an idea
Shelving says “not now”. The idea keeps everything on it and moves out of the way.
- Open the idea’s More actions menu (…) and choose Shelve.
- Its toolbar now says Shelved, it leaves Recents, and it’s listed under the Shelved tab of All ideas. You can still open it and read it.
- To bring it back, choose Take off the shelf in the same menu. It’s open again, where you left it.
An idea you handed off can come back too: choose Reopen in its More actions menu to keep working on it. It returns to Forming, and you can hand it off again later. See Handing off.
While a reopened idea is being worked on, a coding agent can’t build it. On Free, reopening also frees the one place for an idea to go to a coding agent. See Following a build.
Delete an idea
- Open the idea’s More actions menu (…) and choose Delete….
- Walden asks once more and says what goes with it: its pages, questions and chat. Choose Delete.
You land on All ideas, and for a few seconds a message offers Undo. After that, the idea waits in Deleted ideas for thirty days.
Delete a project
- On the project’s page, open Project actions (…) and choose Delete project….
- Walden says how many ideas go with it and asks once more. Choose Delete.
A project takes its ideas with it, and the files kept on the project itself. For a few seconds you can Undo; after that it waits in Deleted projects, with its ideas.
Bring something back
What you delete waits for thirty days, then goes for good. While it waits, a quiet line under the list on All ideas (“3 deleted”) leads to Deleted ideas, and the same line under Projects leads to Deleted projects. Each row says when it was deleted. Point at one to see what you can do:
- Restore brings it back whole and opens it. A project comes back with the ideas it took.
- Delete for good… asks once more, then it’s gone. Nothing brings it back after this.
An idea whose project was deleted as well says “deleted too” beside the project’s name. Restore the project to bring both back.
Copy an idea
Choose Duplicate in the More actions menu. The copy has the idea’s pages as they stand, without drafts or questions, in the same project, with “(copy)” after its name. Walden opens the copy; the original is untouched.
Who can do what
Anyone in the workspace can pin and unpin, and can see what’s in Deleted. Shelving, reopening, duplicating, deleting and restoring are for editors and owners. See Workspaces and roles.
